Mela-D Serum

What is Mela-D Serum by La Roche-Posay?

This little serum is designed to make your complexion bright by reducing the appearance of age spots and other discoloration on the face. La Roche-Posay talks about the many ways that your skin tone can darken – sun damage, natural aging – but ultimately all of these things make your skin less vibrant and dry. This is where Mela-D comes in to repair and exfoliate and renew the skin. This seems like a pretty effective product, but we will have to take a closer look at the ingredients to know for sure.

Ingredients

The active ingredients in this product are 1% Kojic Acid, 0.2% LHA, and 5.7% Glycolic Acid. What do these ingredients mean? Kojic Acid is a mild inhibitor of the formation of pigment in plant and animal tissues, and is used in food and cosmetics to preserve or change colors of substances. It is in this product to help reduce the appearance of dark spots. LHA is innovative derivative of salicylic acid. It is an exfoliating agent which unblocks the pores and breaks down dead skin cells. Glycolic Acid is the primary ingredient in most chemical peels. In smaller doses, it still provides intense exfoliation to help reduce the size and color intensity of dark spots and help even skin tone.

Pros

This product seems like it has good ingredients. They are all proven to lighten and renew the skin, which is what Mela-D promises to do. We believe that this product will be effective. It is also made of all-natural ingredients, so it won’t have as many side-effects as other lightening products that use bleaches and other harsh chemicals.

Cons

This product is a bit expensive – costing about $60 for one fluid ounce. This isn’t too unheard of for an anti-aging product, but it is still a small investment.

Conclusion

We like this product and we recommend it to those of you who are looking for an effective way to lighten and brighten your skin.
