NOW Foods’ CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum
What is CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum?
NOW Food has created this concentrated serum as just one of the many ways you can use the antioxidant properties of CoQ10 to add elasticity to your skin and reduce wrinkles. Applied after the toner and cleanser and before the moisturizer, this product is put right on the problem areas of the face – i.e., those that have lost elasticity and have wrinkles and fine lines. This serum does not claim to have any other active ingredients, so it is important to take a close look at CoQ10 and see if it will actually improve skin elasticity and reduce wrinkles, as well as see if the other ingredients will harm the skin.
Ingredients
De-ionized Water, Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) Leaf Gel*, Vegetable Glycerine, Xanthan Gum, Soy Lecithin, CoQ10 (Co-enzyme Q10, natural all-trans form), Wheat Germ Oil, GABA, Avocado Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Sweet Almond Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), L-Carnosine, Cedar Bark Extract and Green Tea Extract. *Certified Organic
Pros
CoQ10 is an enzyme naturally produced in the body. Its production peaks in the 20-30’s, and then dramatically drops off. It has been proven to effectively reduce the appearance of “crow’s feet” or the wrinkles located at the corners of the eyes. It is also inexpensive, costing about $12 for one fluid ounce.
Cons
Since CoQ10 is the only active ingredient in this product, the rest of the ingredients are useless. It is primarily comprised of water and Aloe Vera. In addition to that, it is unclear how much CoQ10 is necessary to be an effective skin treatment. If, in fact, there is not enough of enzyme to be effective, than the serum would do nothing for the skin and would not be worth purchasing, even for the low price.
Conclusion
This product may be worth trying, but we cannot guarantee results.
